How do you coach your own self? How do you self-motivate in the midst of your challenges and opportunities? How do you keep yourself relevant? How are you enriching your own life – and others?
As you create and live your relevance, consider this thought from Peter Senge: “Real learning gets to the heart of what it means to be human. Through learning we recreate ourselves. Through learning we become able to do something we were never able to do.” The right kind of learning expands our capacity to create our own future. From The Fifth Discipline.
What is your professional development plan? What are you learning? How do you see your own obstacles?
To deeply coach your own self, you will need to:
Nurture the courage to see yourself as never before. What is true about you that remains useful and what beliefs or habits are no longer relevant?
Ask others how they see you. Never be defensive… but deeply curious.
Create specific goals for yourself. Create a transformative professional development plan.
Seek change in four areas: How you think. The words and phrases you use. Your Specific skills. Your presence.
Expect a surge in your own resourcefulness. Do the above and it is likely your relationships and creativity will blossom.
Believe that you can create the workplace that you and others want.
That’s all there is.
